Projects
I selected my Project One: The effect of resilience promoting interventions on children's mental health because the theory behind it is sound, and I became very excited thinking about ways to come up with different experiments and different ways that a study with an experiment like the one I've proposed here, and ones like it could be used to help children and families in need. This project relates to ethics in the way that lower-income families have a lot of things to worry about and making sure that their child is "resilient" is not very high on the list (think food, water, shelter, clothes, etc.) and a study like this could change policies and create awareness in the schools and make resiliency a priority there as well as in the home.
I chose this activity because I would like to have it in a place where it is easy to access for the future. I am sure I will need it going forward and to be able to look back and say I know where it is and just pull it up will be a great help to me in my future psychology classes. Ethically I'll also be able to look at it and remember to always use my references, even if I'm not technically quoting something, and this allows me to see several different ways of using APA 7.
Project One - Social Psychology
This project contributed to my learning experience because it took all that we learned about conformity, obedience and influences and made it something that worked together, and not just as separate ideas.
I benefited professionally from completing this because it made me think about when I am in a group, especially as a leader or supervisor, how I must use these ideas to create cohesion.
This relates to Career Connections because it will help me become a better leader in my profession.
Project Two - Social Psychology
This project contributed to my learning experience because it allowed me to understand that biases affect DEI, especially in our university settings.
I benefited personally from completing this because I can now use the ideas of moving my explicit biases out of the way and allow my mind to expand and possibly be able to shift my implicit biases as well.
This relates to ethics, as we should be treating others as we would like to be treated ourselves.
